I recently decided it was time to try out a new foundation. I have been a fan of Makeup Forever HD foundation for many years now, stocking up whenever I visit America. So I did what any other makeup addict would do and took to blogs to discover whats new to the market. It was here I discovered the Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation.
I stopped by a Nars counter at a Beauty Hall and was matched for a colour. I must admit, the colour picked out for me – Deauville (light 4) was a little darker than my usual 117 shade of Makeup Forever HD foundation, but nevertheless I put my faith in the associate and purchased it.
So, what are my thoughts on the foundation? Well, I’m very impressed! The bottle comes with a pump and I understand from other bloggers that this is a much welcomed improvement to the Nars Sheer Glow foundation. You have to shake the bottle before application and the foundation is remarkably thinner than that of other brands I have used but I feel this helps with blending the product into my skin. It is important to wear a primer underneath the foundation but I always do that anyway. One thing I was unsure about was that it recommends I start by warming the foundation in my hands, then working with the fingers applying a small amount in the centre of the face and then apply by pressing onto the skin working outward in sections. This is quite a new method of application for me as I am a brush girl but I have tried this and it does give a nice finish. However, I do like to finish the application with a brush and like to lightly buff around the skin using my Marc Jacobs Face II brush to give a softer finish.
The foundation does have good staying power and it still has a nice finish even after 8 hours in a hot office environment. It does cover my imperfections well and gives a nice sheen to my skin without looking too much. I would really like to try a face powder from the Nars range to compliment this foundation.
Overall, I’m glad I have given this a go and would buy it again. Has it taken over from my Makeup Forever HD foundation as being my favourite? Not quite, but it has shamed me into realising after all these years I have been buying the wrong shade!
Have you tried this foundation? Do you apply yours with a brush or by using your fingers? I would love to hear your thoughts!
