Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in shade Magick Review & Swatch | Lipstick Monday!

Kat Von D is fast becoming my new favourite when it comes to makeup.  It is therefore probably a good thing that it is not readily available in the UK!

I have had my eye on the Studded Kiss Lipsticks for some time, and recently placed an order from Sephora and slipped this one (and possibly one other!) into my shopping cart!

This beautiful shade in Magick is a pretty dusky pink shade that could easily be my new ‘my lips but better’ shade. It perhaps verges on the warmer side, however works surprisingly well with my cool undertones.  The lipstick has a very subtle shimmer and looks so pretty on my lips.

I applied this in the morning and it lasted right through to lunch time, even surviving coffee drinking!

The Studded Kiss Lipstick packaging is like no other I own, and adds a fun touch to my makeup bag.  The lipstick has a lovely chocolate scent and glides onto my lips effortlessly.

You can purchase the Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick from Sephora (they ship internationally) for $21.00  – approx. £14.60 plus tax and shipping.

Have you tried the Kat Von D Studded Kiss lipsticks? Can you recommend one for me to try? I would love to hear from you!

Clinique Nude Pop Lipstick Review & Swatch | Lipstick Monday!

I absolutely love wearing makeup, but there are some days when I just want to look minimal but still well put together. For todays post I am sharing with you all a lovely nude colour from the Clinique Colour Pop collection in Nude Pop.

The Clinique Colour Pop lipsticks offer both intense colour and a primer in one and are perfect for those days when we are pushed for time as you don’t have to apply a primer separately.   Nude Pop is a pearly pink nude with a slight shimmer.

The lipstick does not last all that long, even with the promise of the primer added to it, but that said it was not disappointing. Reapplication was easy and the lipstick glides onto my lips leaving an even colour.

This lipstick is priced at £16.00. If you are looking for a pretty nude to add to your makeup bag then perhaps give this one a try!

My Makeup Setting Spray Beauty Tip!

I discovered a little beauty hack recently that really works – and naturally wanted to share it with you all!

I love using my Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray, and really notice the difference on days I forget to use it.  You can catch up on my review of the spray in detail here – Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray – Review

I recently suffered from sore eyes and was faced with a real beauty dilemma! I wanted to fix my makeup with my setting spray but didn’t want to spray any into my eyes as this would only aggravate my eye complaint.

So, what is a beauty addict meant to do in a situation like this?!  ……. Improvise!

I use my MAC 187 brush (but any soft kabuki style brush would do) and lightly mist my makeup setting spray over the bristles.  I then gently pat the brush  over my face.  This gives exactly the same finish as misting it in the usual way, but I am able to control where the setting spray falls.

Another benefit of applying in this way is that I suffer from a very oily nose, so I am able to make sure my nose has more spray than drier areas such as my cheeks.

Have you ever tried applying your makeup setting spray in this way? If not, give it a go and let me know your thoughts!

Dolly Baby Lipstick – Rosie For Autograph at Marks & Spencer | Lipstick Monday!

I can’t quite believe it is Monday again, but writing this post always cheers me up! For todays lipstick choice I wanted a colour that was relatively low-key but one that would make my face look put together and polished.

Rosie for Autograph in Dolly Baby was the colour that I was drawn to and I have thoroughly enjoyed wearing it for the first time today.  A lovely rose coloured nude pink that really is like no other in my collection.  The argan oil used in the lipstick really soothed my lips and made application a dream.  I did not use a lip liner in the pictures above, however Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk would work wonderfully well with this colour.

I applied this in the morning before leaving for work, and it lasted a good 5 hours before the need for reapplication.

Priced at £14.00 this lipstick is a real bargain.  I make it no secret how much I adore the Rosie for Autograph collection and this is yet another product that I would add to my favourites list.

Have you tried Dolly Baby from Rosie’s makeup collection? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Take A Look At My Pretty Little Haul From MAC! – MAC Charlotte Olympia Collection Review & Swatch

It has been some time since I bought anything from MAC, but the Charlotte Olympia collection was one that I just could not resist! Charlotte Olympia is the queen of retro and glamour from a bygone era.

Last week saw the release of the collection here in the UK, and I eagerly waited to place my order! I originally wanted a cute little mirror for my work handbag but unfortunately this sold out before I got the chance to purchase the contents in my basket! However, I had more luck with the rest and I chose two pieces from the collection, one nail polish and one lipstick.

First up, lets talk lips! I have enough red lipstick to literally last me a lifetime however that doesn’t seem to stop me buying (all in the name of blog research!)

There were three lipsticks to choose from, and I chose Leading Lady Red. A perfect red lipstick for the femme fatale look. This is a classic matte finish and easy to apply.  I feel this shade has slight orange undertones and for that reason isn’t as flattering on me as some other lipsticks I have however I can still make this work.  The image above is applied straight from the bullet with no lip liner.  The lipstick is slightly more expensive than the regular line at £17.00, however for the packaging I feel it is worth it.  It has the sweet vanilla scent that MAC do so well, and so far has been a real joy to wear.

I also treated myself to a nail polish in To Have Or Have Not.  At £11.00 this is a real bargain and one I just couldn’t resist! Again, this has slight orange undertones.  It glides on effortlessly and has a real high shine – the image above is without a topcoat. The brush is a nice length and holds the polish well to prevent streaking.  Nail lacquer is not something I would usually buy from MAC, however I am pleasantly surprised by the overall  finish.

The packaging is absolutely divine.  The transparent lipstick tube looks very retro.  I love the spiderweb detailing and the boxes the products come in are just too cute to throw away!

There are a few pieces left in the MAC Charlotte Olympia collection – including the lipsticks,  so if you are interested make sure you are quick!

Did you treat yourself to any pieces from this collection? I would love to hear from you!

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette Tutorial To Make Blue/Green Eyes Pop!

Its been a while since I played around with my Urban Decay Naked Palette. This particular look is created using the Naked Palette 2. I have been using my Charlotte Tilbury The Sophisticate Palette for many months now, and while there is no doubt I absolutely love it, I felt like a change.  I have created this look using a natural colour to wash over my eyelids, creating depth with a darker brown and adding interest with a silvery grey hue.  I am really pleased with the finished look, and wanted to share with you all how I created it.  My eye colour is blue, and they turn green when light hits them.  I find the silver and grey really compliment the colour and bring out the green.  If you have the Urban Decay Naked Palette and want to mix things up a little (we all have our favourite go-to shade combinations!) then keep reading to find out how I created this look.

As this tutorial is all about the eyes, I have not photographed every step, but for those who are interested, here is what I used on the rest of my face.

First up, I cleanse tone and moisturise.  I am really enjoying my current skin regimen, but after editing this post have realised my under eyes could do with some moisture! To the naked eye they look fine, but under the harsh reality of my digital camera they look rather dry! Any suggestions for a good eye cream would be gratefully appreciated!

I then apply a makeup primer all over my face. My current favourite is the Chanel Le Blanc multi-use base.  This creates a lovely canvas to work on and really brings out the best in my foundation. I apply a small amount of my NARS eyelid primer to ensure my eyeshadow stays put during the day.

I then apply my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation.  I take this over my eyelids too so that I start to build an even base and texture for my eyeshadow to sit on. Next up I apply my Charlotte Tilbury Miracle Eye Wand.  This little beauty was created by Charlotte as she thinks the whole world is tired! Step 1 is an eye cream that makes the under eye area appear firmer, and Step 2 is a light reflecting concealer that eradicates my lack of sleep! As you can see from the pictures, I apply this liberally to my under eye area in a triangle shape and use my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation brush to gently buff in the concealer.  Once I am happy with this I apply a light dusting of my Charlotte Tilbury Air Brush Finish Light Reflecting Powder. This sets my under eye concealer beautifully without making it look heavy.

Now for the eyes! My favourite part!

For this look I used my Naked Palette 2.  A lovely palette with taupe and greige natural colours.  I am working with three colours for this look – Foxy,Verve and Tease.

First of all I apply Foxy (a cream bisque matte shade) to my entire eyelid using my Bobbi Brown Eye Sweep brush. This neutralises any redness my eyelids naturally have.  I then apply Verve (an oyster coloured shade with shimmer finish) to my outer crease and blend into the middle part of my eyelid.  To do this I use my Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow brush. This is slightly smaller than my Eye Sweep brush and I am therefore able to demonstrate greater control.  This greige  colour works wonderfully with my eye colour and really makes them pop.   When I am happy with the finish I apply my final shade Tease (a creamy pale brown matte shade) to the crease of my eye.  This shade creates definition. To do this I use my Artis Circle 1R brush. This makes applying eyeshadow to my creases an absolute dream and ensures the colour stays exactly where I apply it and doesn’t work into the inner eyelid.

The next step is applying eyeliner and mascara.  I have chosen to use my new Rosie for Autograph at Marks & Spencer gel eyeliner in I’m A Fox Star. A lovely brown shade that compliments the eyeshadows perfectly.  You could then use the darker matte eyeshadow in Tease to soften the look of the line. Finally, I apply lashings of my favourite Charlotte Tilbury 5 Star Mascara to open up my eyes.  This finishes the look perfectly.

I hope you enjoyed reading this tutorial, I really enjoyed putting it together!  Do you like this look I have created with the Urban Decay Naked Palette 2? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Rosie For Autograph At Marks & Spencer – I Love You So Much (ilysm) Lipstick Review & Swatch

I don’t seem to be able to walk past a Marks & Spencer these days without popping in to swoon over the Rosie for Autograph makeup collection.  The packaging, the colours and Rosie herself just make every single item one that I just have to have!

I Love You So Much (ilysm) is a lovely bright pink shade yet very wearable. It suits my cool skin tone very well and really brings out my blue/green eyes. The beautiful creamy texture glides on effortlessly and it stays on for a good 5 hours.  The finish above is without a lip liner and has been applied straight from the bullet. It has a lovely glossy sheen.

The packaging feels and looks very expensive.  It has a magnetic closure and a rose embossed on the lipstick. Add this to the beautiful colour payoff and you have a winner on every level!

You can purchase this Rosie for Autograph lipstick from Marks & Spencer for £14.00. This is just one of 12 colours available for you to choose from …. and keep watching as I may have a few more to share with you soon! Well, they are beautiful so who can blame me for wanting one in every colour!
