Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette Tutorial To Make Blue/Green Eyes Pop!

Its been a while since I played around with my Urban Decay Naked Palette. This particular look is created using the Naked Palette 2. I have been using my Charlotte Tilbury The Sophisticate Palette for many months now, and while there is no doubt I absolutely love it, I felt like a change.  I have created this look using a natural colour to wash over my eyelids, creating depth with a darker brown and adding interest with a silvery grey hue.  I am really pleased with the finished look, and wanted to share with you all how I created it.  My eye colour is blue, and they turn green when light hits them.  I find the silver and grey really compliment the colour and bring out the green.  If you have the Urban Decay Naked Palette and want to mix things up a little (we all have our favourite go-to shade combinations!) then keep reading to find out how I created this look.

As this tutorial is all about the eyes, I have not photographed every step, but for those who are interested, here is what I used on the rest of my face.

First up, I cleanse tone and moisturise.  I am really enjoying my current skin regimen, but after editing this post have realised my under eyes could do with some moisture! To the naked eye they look fine, but under the harsh reality of my digital camera they look rather dry! Any suggestions for a good eye cream would be gratefully appreciated!

I then apply a makeup primer all over my face. My current favourite is the Chanel Le Blanc multi-use base.  This creates a lovely canvas to work on and really brings out the best in my foundation. I apply a small amount of my NARS eyelid primer to ensure my eyeshadow stays put during the day.

I then apply my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation.  I take this over my eyelids too so that I start to build an even base and texture for my eyeshadow to sit on. Next up I apply my Charlotte Tilbury Miracle Eye Wand.  This little beauty was created by Charlotte as she thinks the whole world is tired! Step 1 is an eye cream that makes the under eye area appear firmer, and Step 2 is a light reflecting concealer that eradicates my lack of sleep! As you can see from the pictures, I apply this liberally to my under eye area in a triangle shape and use my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation brush to gently buff in the concealer.  Once I am happy with this I apply a light dusting of my Charlotte Tilbury Air Brush Finish Light Reflecting Powder. This sets my under eye concealer beautifully without making it look heavy.

Now for the eyes! My favourite part!

For this look I used my Naked Palette 2.  A lovely palette with taupe and greige natural colours.  I am working with three colours for this look – Foxy,Verve and Tease.

First of all I apply Foxy (a cream bisque matte shade) to my entire eyelid using my Bobbi Brown Eye Sweep brush. This neutralises any redness my eyelids naturally have.  I then apply Verve (an oyster coloured shade with shimmer finish) to my outer crease and blend into the middle part of my eyelid.  To do this I use my Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow brush. This is slightly smaller than my Eye Sweep brush and I am therefore able to demonstrate greater control.  This greige  colour works wonderfully with my eye colour and really makes them pop.   When I am happy with the finish I apply my final shade Tease (a creamy pale brown matte shade) to the crease of my eye.  This shade creates definition. To do this I use my Artis Circle 1R brush. This makes applying eyeshadow to my creases an absolute dream and ensures the colour stays exactly where I apply it and doesn’t work into the inner eyelid.

The next step is applying eyeliner and mascara.  I have chosen to use my new Rosie for Autograph at Marks & Spencer gel eyeliner in I’m A Fox Star. A lovely brown shade that compliments the eyeshadows perfectly.  You could then use the darker matte eyeshadow in Tease to soften the look of the line. Finally, I apply lashings of my favourite Charlotte Tilbury 5 Star Mascara to open up my eyes.  This finishes the look perfectly.

I hope you enjoyed reading this tutorial, I really enjoyed putting it together!  Do you like this look I have created with the Urban Decay Naked Palette 2? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color Rose Blossom 11 Lipstick Review & Swatches | Lipstick Monday!

Lipstick Monday is here again and today I am sharing with you all the Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color in Rose Blossom. In the tube this lipstick looks like a rose plum colour but as my lips are quite pigmented the shade translates to a lovely natural deep pink shade.

The Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Colors are lightweight yet full coverage lipsticks that deliver a bright noticeable finish. The lipstick is very creamy and moisturising so your lips feels as good as they look.

I applied this lipstick straight from the tube onto a natural lip. I did not apply any lip liner, but found it easy to apply and it lasted reasonably well. The lipstick had a lovely sheen to it (owing to the moisturising properties) so it did need reapplication after drinking as is often the case with a formula such as this.

The Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color is priced at £20.00 and is available nationwide from Bobbi Brown counters. I would recommend if you are after a moisturising lipstick that lasts relatively well with a glossy yet pigmented finish.

Have you tried the Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Colors? I would love to hear of your favourite shade.

Bobbi Brown Blondie Pink 64 Lipstick Review and Swatch | Lipstick Monday!

Bobbi Brown Blondie Pink 64 Lipstick Review Swatch Pippa Middleton Royal Wedding Kate Middleton

So, I have made it through Monday and this is my reward!  The chance to sit down and share with all my blogging friends the lipstick that has got me through the day.  What a day it has been too.  The clocks went back over the weekend and today particularly dragged. I was feeling the cold this morning and running a little late, so I decided minimal effort was to be put into my lipstick today.  It has been a while since a lovely nude lipstick has featured on my Lipstick Monday Posts.   I always look to Bobbi Brown for all things understated and natural, and nude lipsticks are definitely something that she does so very well.

Blondie Pink was the colour I wore today. A lovely warm pink with beige undertones. This lipstick was catapulted onto the beauty map in 2011, when Pippa Middleton wore it to the Royal Wedding in 2011.

So, apart from the initial colour I was also somewhat impressed with the overall performance of it. I applied Blondie Pink just before leaving the house today and it lasted all morning with minimal transfer to my coffee cup! It was easy to apply and went on smoothy. The lipstick is a semi-matte finish with a full coverage.

Blondie Pink is the perfect colour for adding to your makeup collection as it is great for wearing to the office or with a more dramatic eye. The lipstick gives a lovely polished look to the face, and does not sit in the lines of my lips.

While there is no doubt this is a beautiful lipstick, personally speaking my favourite Bobbi Brown lipstick is still Sandwash Pink. This is purely down to the fact that I find Sandwash Pink gives just that little extra sparkle to my complexion.

The packaging is classic Bobbi Brown style with the sleek black tube and gold detailing. You get 3.4 grams of lipstick and it is priced at £20.00 from Bobbi Brown counters nationwide.

Bobbi Brown Sandwash Pink Lipstick – Review

Bobbi Brown Sandwash Pink Lipstick

Bobbi Brown Sandwash Pink Lipstick

The Duchess of Cambridge and I have something in common.  We both love Bobbi Brown’s Sandwash Pink lipstick. This lipstick is my all time favourite ‘go-to’ colour that I like to wear to work or on days I just want to look groomed and well put together.  It is a creamy, semi-matte lipstick that gives my lips instant polish with rich, full coverage. Sandwash Pink is a very pretty natural nude that is quite literally my natural lip colour but better.  Sometimes when wearing nudes I find they can wash me out but this particular colour has a lovely pink tone that I love.

Kate Middleton chose to wear this lipstick on her wedding day and this is when I fell in love with it.  It complimented her natural but well put together look perfectly.  It is very pigmented and lasts a good 4-5 hours.  It does not feather and does not transfer onto my teeth.

The lipstick is housed in a classic Bobbi Brown black lipstick case that features metallic chrome detailing very similar to that of a Chanel lipstick case. I can safely say this lipstick will be a firm favourite for many years to come.

This lipstick costs £19.50 and is available from Bobbi Brown counters nationwide.
