Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet 04 Peach Club Review & Swatch | Lipstick Monday!

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet 04 Peach Club Review & Swatch

Happy Monday everyone! Today  I’m sharing with you all something a little different for Lipstick Monday.  Bourjois has long been one of my favourite ‘drug store’ brands. I am yet to try a product I haven’t loved.  The Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks are no different…. I absolutely love them and can’t recommend enough!

My chosen shade is 04 Peach Club.  The colour is more of a red than a peach.  If you were buying this purely on the name and expecting a peach shade you may be disappointed but it is a lovely colour and certainly one I love.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick 04 Peach Club Review & Swatch

Bourjois Rouge Edition is a bold, matte and long-lasting colour that really does last for ages! Not only does it offer all these fabulous benefits but it is also lightweight, has a velvet texture and does not dry out my lips.  In fact, unlike most matte lipsticks I actually find it very moisturising.

The packaging is simple with a transparent tube, making it easy to find the perfect shade to match your outfit.  The sponge tip applicator picks up the product easily and evenly and glides onto my lips effortlessly.  The applicator makes applying bold lipstick a dream.  I would recommend that if you would like more of a tint finish, to apply a dot of the lipstick on the bottom lip and work it in using a finger tip before doing the same to the top. If you are after a more full on look, then apply the colour in thin layers working up to your desired look.

Peach Club long outlived any hot drinks and only needed touching up after lunch.  This particular colour would work equally as well in the day as it would in the evening.  It is not too full on, but does give a nice ‘pop’ of colour.  Perfect for dreary miserable weather!

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick 04 Peach Club Review & Swatch

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick is priced at £8.99 and is available at Boots (to name only one retailer)

Have you tried this lipstick? I would love to hear from you!

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss 107 Lipstick Review and Swatch | Lipstick Monday!

Rimmel Lipstick lasting Finish 107 Lipstick Review Swatch

I have been really looking forward to sharing this lipstick with you all.  Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in shade 107 is a favourite with bloggers and vloggers alike.  A beauty blogger I follow recently posted a review of this lipstick and I thought how beautiful the colour looked, and put it onto my never ending wishlist.  The next morning I was choosing a lipstick to wear and saw that I did, in fact, already own it! Yes, that really is what you call having too much! Have you ever done this?!

Rimmel Lipstick lasting Finish 107 Lipstick Review Swatch

Rimmel 107 is a a deep berry toned red with cool undertones.  I suit cool based lipsticks and this lipstick really does brighten up my face. I absolutely love everything about this lipstick and cannot recommend it highly enough. It is a semi-matte shade so it lasts a good 5 hours on my lips looking as good as when I put it on. It does not budge with coffee drinking and only appeared partially faded with eating.

The lipstick is super pigmented, yet very easy to apply.  It is a statement lip but is very easy to blend using a lip brush. If you want a little more subdued look but still want to stay true to the colour, I would recommend applying just once to the bottom lip and working it in with a brush. The lipstick did not bleed and did not dry my lips out.

I am absolutely loving this shade at the moment and can see why it is so popular.  The perfect Autumn and Christmas lipstick.  I have read it looks good on most skin tones (it definitely suits pale tones like myself!).  I love that this lipstick is so long lasting and doesn’t fade to the dreaded blotchy ‘lip liner’ look that I have described in the past!

The packaging is lovely, with Kate’s signature on the lid, and you get 4g of lipstick.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss is priced at £5.49 from Boots (to name but one retailer) I cannot quite believe that this lipstick is so reasonably priced for the quality of it. If you haven’t already got it, and are looking for a new statement lip for the coming holiday season then look no further.  This is the one!

I cannot wait to buy more lipsticks from the Kate Moss Rimmel collection, and would love to hear any recommendations from you.

Bourjois La Laque Nail Varnish- Chair Et Tendre 02 | Review

Bourjois La Lacque Nail Polish Nail Varnish Chair et tendre 02 swatch review

I’m always really impressed with Bourjois.  They have some fantastic products and offer great value for money.  I have been reading some reviews on the new La Laque nail colours and couldn’t wait to get my hands on a bottle – even though I found them rather hard to find! Not every Bourjois display seem to stock these polishes, so when I went to a larger Boots store last Saturday I couldn’t help but treat myself to Chair Et Tendre 02.  In the bottle this shade looks very pretty and natural with the slightest hint of shimmer.

So, lets start with the bottle.  It is a lovely tactile bottle that is triangular in shape with rounded edges.  The shape helps the bottle to sit comfortably in my hands when painting so thats definitely a positive.

La Laque Nail Varnish makes promises that the shades are highly pigmented with a formula that glides effortlessly onto the nail.    I found this indeed to be the case, and the brush is a lovely shape that helps me to guide the polish onto my nails.  The colour was fairly opaque in just one application but I always like to go for two to correct any streaks that are sometimes inevitable.

The colour is pretty but I am not sure it stands out from other pale nudes.  On initial application the colour was a lovely pink shade but after a few days the colour changed to a beige pink colour that I was not so keen on.  My manicure lasted for about 4 days  chip free with a gel top coat.

So overall, whilst I really love the formula and initial colour I was a little disappointed with how it developed over the course of the week.  That said, I think this is more to do with the colour I chose and I will be giving Bourjois La Laque another chance to impress me as I have my eye on Flambant Rose – a beautiful pinky red that will look great on my toes!

Bourjois La Laque Chair Et Tendre 02 is priced at £6.49, however it can be found a little cheaper online at various outlets.  I bought mine from Boots taking advantage of a 2 for £14 offer that is currently on.

Hope you found this little review useful.  I would love to hear from you if you have tried Bourjois La Laque to see how you found it, and to recommend any other colours.!

Clinique Pop Lipstick in Plum Pop 14 – Review | Lipstick Monday!

Clinique Lipstick Plum Pop 14 Review Swatch

Plum Pop. Has Autumn written all over it, don’t you think?! For todays Lipstick Monday post it just had to be this shade.  A beautiful soft creamy plum colour with all the benefits that come with being a Clinique Pop Lipstick.  They really are beautiful, and quite special in that they are formulated with a primer and a rich intense colour.  The lipsticks are very pigmented and very moisturising.

Clinique Pop Plum Pop 14 Lipstick Review Swatch

The swatch below shows how opaque the colour is.  It applies easily and for a dark colour, I do not need to use a lip brush which is a rarity for such an intense shade.

Clinique Pop Plum Pop 14 Lipstick Review Swatch

The only thing stopping me from giving this top marks is the fact that it doesn’t last long.  Such a shame, as it really is a beautiful colour.  I feel that the addition of the primer does not really add much to the lipstick.  A primer after all is supposed to make the lipstick last longer but unfortunately I didn’t find this to be the case.  It had already disappeared an hour after application.

Clinique Pop Plum Pop 14 Lipstick Review Swatch

The packaging is lovely and very tactile. The case is the same shade as the lipstick inside so is perfect for finding the colour you want quickly in your makeup bag!

Clinique Pop Lipstick is priced at £16 and is available at Clinique counters nationwide.

I hope you all enjoyed todays Lipstick Monday Post.  Autumn means one thing to us makeup lovers and thats plum lipstick so I will be wearing this lots over the coming weeks!

Pretty Honest Beauty Blog Product Of The Month | Nail Apothecary Gel Shine Top Coat

BLOG PRODUCT OF THE MONTH_edited-1

You may have guessed by now as it is pretty clear to see, I am utterly addicted to all things beauty! I therefore wanted to make a new monthly blog post where I award those products that have been worth every penny.  So, what has won my heart this month?

The winner is! …….

Nail Apothecary Gel Effect Top Coat Review

Nail Apothecary Gel Effect Top Coat!

The beauty aisles are full of gel effect top coats at the moment.  It seems that every brand going has one for sale.  Not of course that I am complaining – I absolutely love the effect of a high gloss shine!

Boots had a buy one get one half price offer recently so I decided to take advantage and try this brand out.  I am so glad I did, I can honestly say that this top coat is amazing! I posted my manicure of the week yesterday You can catch up here, and this was the top coat I used.

Nail Apothecary Gel Effect Top Coat Review

This top coat is described as using special new nail polish acrylic materials to act as a plumping effect on the base of the nails. This means when applying a standard nail colour,  the nail polish looks visibly lifted and creates a gel like look on the nail.

I did wait for my nail polish to dry before applying the top coat.  It went on thickly but was not difficult to apply.  It was fast drying, and when you have got used to using Seche Vite this is a must!  The finished result is a high shine, long lasting manicure that lasts well over a week.  And, perhaps most impressive I did not get any shrinkage of nail colour that I usually get when using a fast drying top coat.

I am so impressed with this product, and would recommend you try it out if you get the chance.

Nail Apothecary Gel Shine Top Coat is priced at £6.95 and is available from Boots.

My EOS Lip Balm Collection | Review

EOS lip balm review strawberry sorbet medicated tangerine pomegranate easpberry lemon drop SPF 15 summer fruit coconut swirl vanilla mint review

It would be fair to say after buying one EOS lip balm I really didn’t need another, or another, or indeed another.  There is however something delightfully addictive about these little spheres.  I don’t know what it is that makes me love them, maybe it’s the tactile feel to them, the way they fit perfectly into my hands or whether it is the fact they are reminiscent of sweets.  I think in fact it is the flavour of the lip balm, and yes, they really are as mouth watering as they sound.  One thing is for sure, I am not alone in my love for EOS. They are hugely popular!

As I said earlier, I didn’t need any of these after buying my first one (it was Vanilla Mint for those interested!) , but at the same time I just couldn’t resist them!

My collection includes Strawberry Sorbet, Pomegranate Raspberry, Lemon Drop SPF 15, Sweet Fruit, Vanilla Mint, Coconut Swirl, Honeysuckle Honeydew and last but (hopefully!) not least my favourite Medicated Tangerine.

EOS lip balm review strawberry sorbet medicated tangerine pomegranate easpberry lemon drop SPF 15 summer fruit coconut swirl vanilla mint review

There is something else that makes these lip balms special.  They are 95% organic, 100% natural, and paraben and petrolatum free.  They are packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil.

EOS keep my lips soft, and I certainly do not feel that they dry my lips out which is a feeling I have had with other lip balms.

I like to stock up whenever I am in America because they are a lot cheaper across the pond.  I have bought the odd one in Urban Outfitters but not every hight street is lucky enough to have one of these.  I have however discovered some exciting news, they are now available at Boots.com!

They are priced at £6.50 but let me warn you; you may not be able to stop at one!

Have you ever tried EOS lip balms? Do you have an addiction to rival mine?! I would love to hear from you!

How to strengthen your nails on a budget – Nu Nale Cream Review

Nu Nale Cream Nail Strengthener Review

Being  a self confessed addict of all things beauty, it is very rare that my nails are not painted. I always look after my cuticles with creams and oils but sometimes no matter how much of a conscious effort we make to treat our nails with care, sometimes  constant painting and removal can leave nails somewhat thin.  The beauty shelves are full of products you can paint onto your nails to resolve this common beauty problem but they are often quite pricey.

I was wandering a Boots store recently (a popular drugstore to my american readers!) when this product stood out.  Not only because I was intrigued by the thought of a nail strengthening cream that I could incorporate into my manicure, but also the price.  An absolute bargain at £3.60.

So, what do we get for £3.60?, well a tube of 30ml Nu Nale cream in a box. The packaging is not all that special, but for the price I really can’t complain. The instructions state that I should apply a small amount of the cream to the nails and massage it well into the cuticles and nail tips.  I should do this 2-3 times a day initially, particularly after washing my hands and then as nail condition improves, once daily preferably last thing at night.

Nu Nale Cream Nail Strengthener Review

So, the image above shows roughly how much product I apply to the nails.  I then gently massage around the cuticles and then lightly over the entire nail. The cream itself contains Lanolin, a product well known for its ability to protect from what can be the harsh affects of water.  Lanolin is a product that comes from wool bearing animals and it helps in weatherproofing the animals by aiding the shedding of water from their coats. So, you can imagine what this property does for our nails.  If you are someone who is constantly in and out of water all day then this cream would be perfect for you.

Nu Nale Cream Nail Strengthener Review

As you can see from the image above, this cream really does work! The product above has been rubbed into the nail and no residue is left. The glossy healthy sheen has not been achieved by buffing my nails, only from using the Nu Nale Cream. I have been using this for a couple of weeks now and can certainly notice a difference.  They feel harder and less likely to break.  I also use this cream over painted nails to protect the cuticles.  So, not only is it good at a deep repair every now and then but also for topping up that good work throughout the week.

Overall, I really can’t rate this cream highly enough.  Sure, we can buy other creams and nail treatments that protect our nails but they are often near the £20.00 mark and I really can’t fault this cream at the bargain price of £3.60.

Hope you found this review useful.  It’s great when you discover a bargain product that exceeds your expectations, isn’t it?!
