Worth The Splurge? Crème De La Mer – The Lip Balm | Review

I think it’s true what they say. The more you use lip balm, the more your lips need it.  At least that’s certainly the case in my book. I find my lips become super uncomfortable if I don’t use it. You probably all know by now that I love lip balm as I have shared with you my collection of EOS lip balms- all of which I absolutely love. However it is my Crème De La Mer lip balm that has a special place in my heart. A little touch of pure luxury.  I wanted to try this for ages before purchasing it, becoming a fan after frequently reading about it in magazines as a firm favourite amongst celebrities. I bought my first pot when on holiday in America four years ago, and I am about to open my third – so I guess it’s safe to say I’m a fan!

The ingredients in Crème De La Mer were created 50 years ago by Dr Max Huber who suffered an accident in a laboratory. Neither medicine or science was able to create anything of benefit to repair his burns, so he embarked on a personal quest to transform the look of his skin. He created the Miracle Broth which is the truly magical ingredient in the Crème De La Mer products today.

This Lip Balm contains Miracle Broth, and I find this product really does repair and rejuvenate my lips leaving them feeling super hydrated and soft. We all know that the winter brings with it the obligatory sore and chapped lips, but using this balm instantly soothes them. I feel it doesn’t just sit on the outer layer of my lips but actually sinks into them. It has a refreshing minty taste that is a real pleasure to use and does not taste synthetic like some can.  I like to apply it before bed,  and always wake up with hydrated lips that are ready to take on whatever lipstick I choose the next morning.

So in essence, The Crème De La Mer Lip Balm is worth every penny and in answer to my post title is 100% worth the splurge.  I do agree the price does make you blink somewhat, but for a balm that lasts about 18 months used at least twice a day – I feel I can justify the cost. I don’t mind paying for a product that delivers and this certainly does. For that reason, I can’t recommend this enough. If you are ever passing a Crème De La Mer counter then stop by and test it out!

You can purchase the Crème De La Mer Lip Balm for £45.00. If you don’t live near a counter then you will find it at various online stores including John Lewis.

Have you tried this lip balm? I would love to hear if you think it is amazing too!

Claudia Winkleman Lets Go… Lip Set | Review & Swatches

Claudia Winkleman Lets Go Lip Set Thank You Wendy Lipstick Do Me Red Lipstick Marks and Spencer Review Swatch First Base Lip Balm Its Worth it Lip Scrub

Claudia Winkleman has long been a personal beauty icon of mine.  Sure, her Jack Sparrow inspired eyeliner is not to everyones taste but personally, I love it! What I particularly like about Claudia is that she knows what works for her and she sticks to it.  Beautifully glossy brunette hair teamed with oodles of eyeliner and a pale lip.  Chic yet delightfully different.

I was unaware Marks & Spencer had teamed up with Claudia to make a line of products until I was out Christmas shopping in December.  This particular ‘Lets Go’ lip set was on special offer at half price so I snapped it up as a little early Christmas present to myself.  I thought this would be the perfect way to try some of the products from one of my favourite presenters.  I wasn’t going to review the products as I thought it was a Christmas gift special that could no longer be purchased, but I have noticed that Marks & Spencer have kept Claudia’s line on the shelves.  I therefore thought there was no better time to share with you my thoughts!

Lets Go…Lip Set is priced at £15.00.  Included in the set are two lipsticks (one very pale nude and one brick red), a lip scrub and a lip balm.

You may remember from a recent post I am a lover of Lush lip scrubs. I wasn’t particularly expecting much from the lip scrub in this set but I was definitely proved wrong. It is a little difficult to get out of the pot, but that is because it is packed in so tightly.  The scrub is very grainy and has a lovely minty flavour.  I can feel my lips are instantly smoother after applying it.  I then apply a layer of lip balm to add a little moisture back into my lips.  Again, I was not expecting much but I am really impressed. It has a lovely minty flavour and sinks into my lips.  These two products really are the perfect base for any lipstick.

Claudia made these lipsticks as a ‘go to’ for day and night.  An understated nude for daytime named ‘Thank You Wendy’ and a feisty red for evenings named ‘Do Me’.

The lipstick packaging is not particularly good quality, but for the price one really can’t complain. The lipsticks look a little cheap and almost ‘chalky’ looking in the bullet but I guess its what it looks like when on that really counts.

Left to Right : Thank You Wendy & Do Me

Thank You Wendy is a lovely nude but a little too pale for me.  It completely washed me out.  I am yet to try this with a full on smokey eye as this colour may work a little better under those circumstances.  I suppose it would look nice worn over a darker brown to lift it.  I am thinking MAC Velvet Teddy may benefit from this shade layered over the top?

Do Me is a beautiful brick red shade that is like nothing I own.  I was not expecting to like this when I saw it in the bullet as it has orange undertones.  However surprisingly, it totally works! It adds a lovely warmth to my face without being too orange.

The formula of the lipsticks are surprisingly impressive.  They applied easily and are the right mix of sheer yet opaque thanks to the buildable formula.

You can purchase this set from Marks & Spencer online and in-store for £15.00. Whilst the nude is simply too nude for me, the red lipstick combined with the lip scrub and balm are lovely little items to add to your collection.

Have you tried any items from Claudia’s range? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Laura Mercier Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm Lipstick in Cherries Jubilee Review | Lipstick Monday!

Laura Mercier Creamy Colourbalm Lip Parfait Review Swatch Lipstick

Laura Mercier Lip Parfait. Sounds good enough to eat doesn’t it?! This was my choice of lipstick for today and I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed wearing it! This is quite a different lipstick in that it is a colourbalm.  A sumptuously soft almost butter like lipstick that literally melts onto your lips.  The lipstick transforms lips with an ultra-thin balmy formula that provides the comfort of a lip balm, the coverage of a lipstick and the shine of a gloss.

So, lets start off with the colour.  The Laura Mercier Lip Parfait comes in 12 shades and I chose Cherries Jubilee that Laura Mercier describe as being a blue red.  To be honest, I think the colour is more of a blue based pink.  The swatches below show how the colour can be built up to achieve your desired finish.

As I touched upon earlier, this lipstick is a real pleasure to wear as it is so soft.  The colour glides onto the lips and does not cling to any dry patches.  The lipstick looks like a gloss but does not feel sticky on my lips.  The lipstick lasted for about 2 hours but did not cope well when up against the dreaded coffee cup, but that said the lipstick is so easy to apply and does not require a lip brush so reapplication is not really an issue.  The lipstick does live up to its promises – It really is a lipstick and lipgloss with all the ease of application of a lip balm!

My lips feel comfortable and hydrated and I can’t wait to pick up a few more colours in this collection.

Laura Mercier Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm is priced at £19.50 and is available at Laura Mercier counters and online.

I hope you enjoyed my lipstick choice for today. I would love to hear from you if you can recommend any other colours from the Laura Mercier Lip Parfait collection.

My EOS Lip Balm Collection | Review

EOS lip balm review strawberry sorbet medicated tangerine pomegranate easpberry lemon drop SPF 15 summer fruit coconut swirl vanilla mint review

It would be fair to say after buying one EOS lip balm I really didn’t need another, or another, or indeed another.  There is however something delightfully addictive about these little spheres.  I don’t know what it is that makes me love them, maybe it’s the tactile feel to them, the way they fit perfectly into my hands or whether it is the fact they are reminiscent of sweets.  I think in fact it is the flavour of the lip balm, and yes, they really are as mouth watering as they sound.  One thing is for sure, I am not alone in my love for EOS. They are hugely popular!

As I said earlier, I didn’t need any of these after buying my first one (it was Vanilla Mint for those interested!) , but at the same time I just couldn’t resist them!

My collection includes Strawberry Sorbet, Pomegranate Raspberry, Lemon Drop SPF 15, Sweet Fruit, Vanilla Mint, Coconut Swirl, Honeysuckle Honeydew and last but (hopefully!) not least my favourite Medicated Tangerine.

There is something else that makes these lip balms special.  They are 95% organic, 100% natural, and paraben and petrolatum free.  They are packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil.

EOS keep my lips soft, and I certainly do not feel that they dry my lips out which is a feeling I have had with other lip balms.

I like to stock up whenever I am in America because they are a lot cheaper across the pond.  I have bought the odd one in Urban Outfitters but not every hight street is lucky enough to have one of these.  I have however discovered some exciting news, they are now available at Boots.com!

They are priced at £6.50 but let me warn you; you may not be able to stop at one!

Have you ever tried EOS lip balms? Do you have an addiction to rival mine?! I would love to hear from you!
