My Spring Hair Must Have! Oribe Signature Moisture Mask | Review

Winter is about to be waved goodbye to, and with the arrival of Spring brings the feeling of revival.  I like to embrace this season change in my beauty regimen too and treat my skin and hair to some extra TLC to get ready for the coming warmer months.  I colour my hair and for a long time now have felt I have had to make a choice between protecting my colour and looking after my hair as quite often moisturising products like to strip my hair of my chosen hue.  For this reason, I am particularly excited to share this hair mask with you all as not only does it actually moisturise my hair, but it is also colour safe!

What better way to spoil myself than with Oribe.  My all time favourite hair brand. I decided to treat myself to the Oribe Signature Moisture Mask.  A super rich indulgence by the Rolls Royce of the hair industry. This deep-hydrating mask has transformed my hair from parched central heating damaged hair, into soft, manageable and shiny hair.  I use this after washing and conditioning with my favourite Oribe products from the Beautiful Colour collection. I ensure any excess water has been removed and apply a small amount of the mask from mid-lengths to the ends of my hair.  I comb through gently and wrap a towel around my hair. I then leave this on for as long as possible (usually while I have a bath!) and then rinse until the water runs clear.  This leaves me with the softest, most manageable hair I have ever had. The scent of this product is beautiful and lasts for days which is great!

The packaging is simply exquisite and looks beautiful on my dressing table. It is expensive at £54.00 for 175ml, but I can see this lasting me for ages. You can purchase this mask from Oribe retailers nationwide and online stockists such as Space NK or Net-A-Porter.

I would love to hear from you if you too are a lover of this hair mask!

How I Achieve Super Glossy Hair – Oribe Supershine Moisturising Cream | Review

For some time now I have been on a mission to achieve the glossy shiny hair I have always wanted. My hair has a very coarse texture, and I really have to work hard to get the smooth shiny hair I want.

I have long been a fan of the Oribe hair collection, particularly favouring the Oribe Beautiful Colour shampoo and conditioner for the way it makes my hair soft and noticeably shiny.

Recently I noticed that my hair was looking a little frizzy and went on the search for a product that could help.  I stumbled upon the Oribe Supershine Moisturising Cream.  This is a leave in conditioner that cures even the driest of hair while calming frizz.  It softens the hair and gives the most amazing shine. It is paraben free whilst offering UV protection and is colour safe.

I use this product on damp hair.  I work some of the product between my fingers and then run my hands through mid-lengths to ends. The cream is not sticky and is easy to work with. It also has the iconic Oribe scent that is just heavenly.  After straightening my hair, I like to apply a small amount to the ends. This makes my haircut look very blunt and rejuvenates my hairstyle – even if it is in need of a cut.

Another use for this cream is on second day hair. It really calms any flyaway ends and re-defines the style – as you can see from the picture below.

Left: Natural Hair –  Right: Hair after Oribe Supershine Moisturising Cream has been applied.

I am really pleased I decided to purchase this product.  I have used it every day since and it has literally transformed my hair.

You can purchase the Oribe Supershine Moisturising Cream for £47.00 from Oribe stockists nationwide. For this price you get 150ml of product. It is also available in a smaller size for £19.00.

Have you tried this product? Are you using a product that has transformed your hair? I would love to hear from you!

Smith & Cult Pillow Pie Nail Polish | Review

Smith & Cult Pillow Pie Nail Polish Nail Varnish Review Swatch Above it all top coat

For todays post I wanted to share with you all another Smith & Cult nail polish.  Pillow Pie is a lovely powdery pink that looks simply gorgeous on the nails.  Finding that perfect opaque soft pink is actually quite hard.  All too often the colour I am expecting from the bottle is not what translates to my nails and the pink is much more sheer than what I really want.

As you know from my previous review of Doe My Dear , the nail polishes are 5-free meaning they are free from nasties that are quite often found in nail polishes.  The bottles are absolutely drop dead gorgeous with each lid being unique in shape. They look stunning on my dressing table.

Smith & Cult Pillow Pie Nail Polish Nail Varnish Review Swatch Above it all top coat

I used two coats of Pillow Pie and one Above It All top coat.  The colour did not drag and went on streak free. The nail polish is very highly pigmented and glossy. The top coat really plumped the colour up and added exceptional shine.

You can purchase Smith & Cult Pillow Pie from Space NK and Selfridges for £19.00. I would recommend this colour if you are after a shade that makes your hands look clean and tidy and one that matches any outfit!

Have you tried any of the Smith & Cult nail polishes? Do you like this particular colour? I would love to hear from you!

Smith & Cult Doe My Dear Nail Polish | Review and Swatch

Smith & Cult Doe My Dear Nail Polish review and swatch

Hello readers! Today I wanted to share with you my manicure of choice for the week.  Chanel Frenzy has long been my all time favourite grey / beige / lilac shade so when I saw this offering from cult brand Smith & Cult in my local Space NK branch, I could not help but add it to my ‘wish-list!’

Smith & Cult was designed by the founder of 90’s brand Hard Candy.  I spent many a day as a teen swooning over Hard Candy nail polishes with the little plastic ring in a similar hue attached to the bottle.  The price has gone up a little since the Hard Candy days, but when a company get the formula and colour spot on like Smith & Cult seem to have done, that £19 seems money well spent.

Imagine my excitement when my lovely Mum bought me two colours and a top coat for Christmas.  Today’s post is dedicated to ‘Doe My Dear’ described as an opaque dove grey.

The nail colour applied very smoothly and was easy to get a tidy neat finish. This particular manicure was two coats of the polish.

I have finished the manicure with the Smith & Cult top coat named ‘Above It All’.  First impression was, whilst lovely, was perhaps an unnecessary purchase from the collection- but I stand corrected! This top coat gives an extremely glossy ‘plumped up’ look with extreme clarity and shine.

I can’t wait to try my other shade and report back to you all.  I am really excited about this brand and can’t wait to explore more of the collection in the coming months.

Smith & Cult are 5 free (formulated without nasties), offer a lovely range of colours and have graced the pages of Vogue.  What more could a beauty addict want!

NARS Steven Klein Killer Heels Lipstick Coffret Set | Lipstick Monday!

NARS Steven Klein Lipstick Coffret Set Fire Down Below, Mayflower, Little Darling, Joyous Red, Jungle Red Review Swatch

For today’s Lipstick Monday post, I am sharing with you all a little something different.  As it’s a Bank Holiday why share one lipstick with you when I can share 5! I was lucky enough to be given this Steven Klein gift set for Christmas, and wanted to show you all what you get before it is too late to buy for yourself.

NARS have collaborated with photographer Steven Klein to create a collection of highly pigmented colours.  This particular gift set includes colours that are part of the regular line.  I love this, as there is nothing worse than falling in love with a limited edition lipstick only to find you can’t buy it again, right?!

Included in this set are 5 small (1.7g)  lipsticks.  The shades you get are:

  • Little Darling
  • Mayflower
  • Joyous Red
  • Jungle Red
  • Fire Down Below

What I love about this set is that each colour is wearable and I potentially would re-purchase them in full size.  The only colour that I think is not really worth purchasing is Little Darling, purely because it is so pale it hardly shows up.

Above are the swatches of the lipsticks.  From left to right are Little Darling, Mayflower, Joyous Red, Jungle Red and Fire Down Below.

Little Darling is a nude shade, and when I say nude I mean nude.  There is no hint of pink or brown.  This shade was hugely popular on initial release and was very hard to find.  On my pale skin it does not translate all that well and gives an almost ‘foundation lip’ finish.  My natural lip colour has a dark pigmentation so this is not all that flattering.  However, as it is so sheer it will be perfect for layering over another lipstick.  I am thinking my MAC Velvet Teddy will be the perfect base for this shade as it is a heavy colour that needs that little extra ‘pop’.

Mayflower is my perfect nude that is not hard to wear and a ‘my lips but better shade’.  It does have very finely milled glitter in the lipstick, but this is not off-putting.  It adds a nice shine to my lips without the need for a gloss.

Joyous Red is a lovely orange red that is strangely wearable! Orange hues in lipsticks are usually not my friend but this particular shade is (literally!) a joy to wear! It is conservative and safe to wear in an office environment.

Jungle Red is the colour I was most excited about trying! I regretted not purchasing this earlier on in the year.  This is a lovely warm but soft red that is so easy to pull off.  It is elegant and classy and I am tempted to say is my new favourite red! NARS, this is sheer perfection!

Finally is a shade that has surprised me.  Fire Down Below is a deep oxblood red that gives the face a lovely warmth.  I am pale but I can carry this shade off well. I am looking forward to dressing this up and playing with it over the next few days.

I hope you found my review of the NARS Steven Klein lipstick set useful.  I can’t wait to incorporate these lipsticks into my makeup this week (hopefully, I may even manage to apply them a little better than I have for the pictures!)

This set is still available and is priced at £29.00. I highly recommend trying it out.

These lipsticks applied smoothly and were not drying.  They applied very sheer and you are able to build up the look of the lipstick    depending on the occasion.

Hope you enjoyed todays Lipstick Monday post.  A little different to the usual format but I couldn’t wait to share with you all this particular collection.

Space NK Haul | Artis Elite Collection Circle 1R Makeup Brush and Oribe Thick Dry Finishing Spray

Space NK Haul Oribe Thick Dry Finishing Spray Artis Elite Collection Circle 1R Brush

No matter how hard I try I am unable to walk out of Space NK empty handed. My recent trip was no different and I walked out with two items I just can’t wait to try out!

Artis Elite Collection Circle 1R Brush review Space NK Haul

Artis makeup brush Elite Collection Circle 1R

I wasn’t thinking of buying a new makeup brush, but these particular ones caught my eye. I couldn’t figure out what exactly these brushes were at first glance as they are so different to any other brush I have seen before.  These brushes are designed to fit the shape of our hands when applying our own makeup.  They come in a large array of sizes from foundation and powder brushes to eyeshadow and eyeliner brushes.  I chose the Circle 1R.  It has a tilt from the handle and a round fibre brush that provides a soft yet focused finish.  This particular brush applies the product into the creases of my lids softly to help sculpt them and give an airbrushed finish.  It can also be used on other small areas such as the corners of the eye and beside the nostrils. I must admit my first thought was to use this as a lip brush so that I can work the lipstick into my lips but I am thinking this brush is almost too good for that.  I am looking forward to giving this a try and will update with a review as soon I have tried it out.

Next up is a hair product. I am really enjoying using my Oribe haircare collection at the moment, so couldn’t resist adding this to my collection. The Oribe Thick Dry Finishing Spray is perfect for plumping up my hair.  I thought this would be perfect for when I put my hair in ponytail and want to add a little volume on the crown. Again, I will give this a try and share with you all my thoughts.

The Oribe Thick Dry Finishing Spray is priced at £36.00 and the Artis Circle 1R Elite Collection brush is priced at £25.00

Hope you enjoyed my Space NK Haul! I can’t wait to try them out and share with you my findings!

Pretty Honest Beauty Blog October Product Of The Month | Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray

Product of the Month Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray Review

Another month over and that means one thing here at Pretty Honest HQ. Time to crown the product that has won my heart in the month of October.  This months award goes to Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray.

Product of the Month Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray Review

I have been using this product for some time.  It has seen me through the humid summer months and is also proving equally as useful now the weather is getting colder.  Some people may be wondering why I am using this spray in Autumn, but my hair is very flyaway.  I spend time in the morning carefully straightening my hair and applying my Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil and Shu Uemura Hairspray to set it.   I get into my car with not a hair out of place, drive to work and then something happens.  I walk into work and it all goes wrong! The affects of the weather no matter what it is, mixed with the unpredictable nature of my flyaway course yet fine hair make for a less than optimal hair day!

Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray has, I am somewhat pleased to report, put an end to the hair problems encountered above! This spay is a protective, vitamin-enriched finishing spray. This spray shields my hair from the elements and therefore prevents any resulting frizz. It works on both straight hair or curled hair and the scent is absolutely amazing!

This spray dispenses in a easy to control fine spray, and coats my hair evenly.  After styling and using my hair oil, I like to tip my head upside down and spray this under my hair working it through with my hands, and then up-tip my head and spray on the top.

I purchased my Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray (200ml) from Space NK for £37.00.  It is expensive, but really does do the trick and I don’t have any other product like it.

Have you tried any products from the Oribe collection? Do you also suffer with my hair problems?! I would love to hear your thoughts!
