My Makeup Setting Spray Beauty Tip!

I discovered a little beauty hack recently that really works – and naturally wanted to share it with you all!

I love using my Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray, and really notice the difference on days I forget to use it.  You can catch up on my review of the spray in detail here – Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray – Review

I recently suffered from sore eyes and was faced with a real beauty dilemma! I wanted to fix my makeup with my setting spray but didn’t want to spray any into my eyes as this would only aggravate my eye complaint.

So, what is a beauty addict meant to do in a situation like this?!  ……. Improvise!

I use my MAC 187 brush (but any soft kabuki style brush would do) and lightly mist my makeup setting spray over the bristles.  I then gently pat the brush  over my face.  This gives exactly the same finish as misting it in the usual way, but I am able to control where the setting spray falls.

Another benefit of applying in this way is that I suffer from a very oily nose, so I am able to make sure my nose has more spray than drier areas such as my cheeks.

Have you ever tried applying your makeup setting spray in this way? If not, give it a go and let me know your thoughts!

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette Tutorial To Make Blue/Green Eyes Pop!

Its been a while since I played around with my Urban Decay Naked Palette. This particular look is created using the Naked Palette 2. I have been using my Charlotte Tilbury The Sophisticate Palette for many months now, and while there is no doubt I absolutely love it, I felt like a change.  I have created this look using a natural colour to wash over my eyelids, creating depth with a darker brown and adding interest with a silvery grey hue.  I am really pleased with the finished look, and wanted to share with you all how I created it.  My eye colour is blue, and they turn green when light hits them.  I find the silver and grey really compliment the colour and bring out the green.  If you have the Urban Decay Naked Palette and want to mix things up a little (we all have our favourite go-to shade combinations!) then keep reading to find out how I created this look.

As this tutorial is all about the eyes, I have not photographed every step, but for those who are interested, here is what I used on the rest of my face.

First up, I cleanse tone and moisturise.  I am really enjoying my current skin regimen, but after editing this post have realised my under eyes could do with some moisture! To the naked eye they look fine, but under the harsh reality of my digital camera they look rather dry! Any suggestions for a good eye cream would be gratefully appreciated!

I then apply a makeup primer all over my face. My current favourite is the Chanel Le Blanc multi-use base.  This creates a lovely canvas to work on and really brings out the best in my foundation. I apply a small amount of my NARS eyelid primer to ensure my eyeshadow stays put during the day.

I then apply my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation.  I take this over my eyelids too so that I start to build an even base and texture for my eyeshadow to sit on. Next up I apply my Charlotte Tilbury Miracle Eye Wand.  This little beauty was created by Charlotte as she thinks the whole world is tired! Step 1 is an eye cream that makes the under eye area appear firmer, and Step 2 is a light reflecting concealer that eradicates my lack of sleep! As you can see from the pictures, I apply this liberally to my under eye area in a triangle shape and use my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation brush to gently buff in the concealer.  Once I am happy with this I apply a light dusting of my Charlotte Tilbury Air Brush Finish Light Reflecting Powder. This sets my under eye concealer beautifully without making it look heavy.

Now for the eyes! My favourite part!

For this look I used my Naked Palette 2.  A lovely palette with taupe and greige natural colours.  I am working with three colours for this look – Foxy,Verve and Tease.

First of all I apply Foxy (a cream bisque matte shade) to my entire eyelid using my Bobbi Brown Eye Sweep brush. This neutralises any redness my eyelids naturally have.  I then apply Verve (an oyster coloured shade with shimmer finish) to my outer crease and blend into the middle part of my eyelid.  To do this I use my Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow brush. This is slightly smaller than my Eye Sweep brush and I am therefore able to demonstrate greater control.  This greige  colour works wonderfully with my eye colour and really makes them pop.   When I am happy with the finish I apply my final shade Tease (a creamy pale brown matte shade) to the crease of my eye.  This shade creates definition. To do this I use my Artis Circle 1R brush. This makes applying eyeshadow to my creases an absolute dream and ensures the colour stays exactly where I apply it and doesn’t work into the inner eyelid.

The next step is applying eyeliner and mascara.  I have chosen to use my new Rosie for Autograph at Marks & Spencer gel eyeliner in I’m A Fox Star. A lovely brown shade that compliments the eyeshadows perfectly.  You could then use the darker matte eyeshadow in Tease to soften the look of the line. Finally, I apply lashings of my favourite Charlotte Tilbury 5 Star Mascara to open up my eyes.  This finishes the look perfectly.

I hope you enjoyed reading this tutorial, I really enjoyed putting it together!  Do you like this look I have created with the Urban Decay Naked Palette 2? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil – Review

Urban Decay Ultimate OZONE Multipurpose Primer Pencil

As those of you who follow my blog will know, I love Urban Decay’s All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. Read my review here.  Given the popularity of that post, I think you all love it too! With that in mind, I wanted to share with you all my thoughts on Urban Decay’s Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil. This product is fairly new (at least to the UK market) and I was excited to try it given my faultless findings of the makeup setting spray!

Urban Decay Ultimate OZONE Multipurpose Primer Pencil

Inspired by their bestselling, slim-barrelled Ozone 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil, Ultimate Ozone is a much needed primer in pencil form that they have added to their collection.  The thick size of the pencil makes it easy to apply in one quick swipe, and of course the fact it is invisible means that if you go outside of your lip line then it is not the end of the world!

The pencil is creamy and has a long-lasting formula that glides on effortlessly. The pencil does not drag and does not dry out my lips. The lip primer contains jojoba oil that leaves my lips feeling nourished and most importantly provides a wonderful base for my chosen lipstick.  It is a pencil that needs sharpening so I would recommend buying a separate sharpener so that any debris left over from sharpening other pencils does not contaminate the primer.

As this primer has a thicker waxy type consistency, it is perfect for applying over any fine lines around the lips that you may have.

This product is a definite lip collection must have! Urban Decay have done it again!

The Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil is priced at £15.00.

This primer review is the perfect product to kick start a new regular series of blog posts that I am really excited about….all will be revealed tomorrow. Until then, my lips are sealed!!……. *hint!*CosmeticsWatercolorClipart_37

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray – Review

Urban Decay All Nighter Review

I’m sure you will agree that there is nothing more frustrating than leaving the house with perfect makeup, only to catch sight of yourself mid day to find your foundation and powder has vanished! If like me you have oily skin then this problem is one that I guess we have come to expect by now!

I first used Urban Decay All Nighter some years ago when it first came out.  I used it on and off but didn’t repurchase it.  Fast forward a few years and I have fallen in love with it all over again!

I mist on the spray after applying all of my makeup.  The best way to do this is to hold the bottle 8 to 10 inches away from your face and mist 2-4 times in an ‘X’ and ‘T’ motion. This helps to ensure the mist reaches all corners of the face and pays particular attention to the T-Zone.

I have used the Makeup Forever setting spray and the MAC Fix + setting spray but I have found this one to work best for me.  The spray is so fine and it doesn’t feel sticky or make my skin feel tight.

I recommend this makeup setting spray to all.  This really has been one of those moments where I wonder why I didn’t repurchase sooner! I am sure it works as I can see more makeup on my face cloth at the end of the day.

The bottle contains 118ml and is priced at £21.00.  I can honestly say this is my new must have product.  After all, we can all spend lots of money and time doing our makeup but if it slips off before lunch then there really isn’t much point!

Have you got any tips on making your makeup last longer? I would love to hear from you!
